Bavarian Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut is incredibly nutritious and healthy. It provides probiotics and vitamin K2, which are known for their health benefits, and many other nutrients. Eating sauerkraut may help you strengthen your immune system, improve your digestion, reduce your risk of certain diseases, and even lose weight. 

Ingredients 

800 gram sauerkraut sour cabbage

30 gram unsalted pure irish

80 grams bacon

75 gram onion

1 medium apple

1 tsp knorr beef bouillon

1 tsp caraway seed

1 tsp monk sugar lakanto

Salt and pepper (to taste)

Directions

Drain the sauerkraut.

Chop the onions and the bacon, peel and chop the apple into small cubes.

Heat the fat in a saucepan.

Cook the onions and the bacon for about 3 minutes on medium-low heat.

Add the apple cubes and stir for another 3 minutes. 

Sprinkle the sugar on top, stir and let caramelize slightly 1-2 minutes.

Add the fermented cabbage, salt, pepper, caraway seeds, and apple cider/white wine/ apple juice. (2)

Stir well, cover, and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes.
