Asian Barbecue London Broil

Prep time: 40 min

Cook time: 15 min

Servings:

Typically, it involves a lean cut of beef, such as flank steak or top round steak, that is marinated, broiled or grilled, and then thinly sliced against the grain.

Ingredients

1 London broil (about 1.5-2 pounds)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Asian Barbecue Marinade:

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

2 tbsp honey

2 tbsp rice vinegar

2 tbsp sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

1 tbsp sriracha (optional, for a bit of heat)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

Prepare the Marinade:

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sriracha (if using). Mix well.

Marinate the Meat:

Place the London broil in a large zip-close bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring it is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Grill:

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Grill the London Broil:

Remove the meat from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Place the meat on the hot grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy—a medium-rare London broil should be at 130-135°F (54-57°C).

Rest the Meat:

Remove the meat from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board, tented with foil, for about 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy and flavorful result.

Serve:

Slice the London broil against the grain for maximum tenderness. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Serve with your favorite side dishes, such as steamed rice or grilled vegetables.
