Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup almond butter or peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon sea salt1-2 tablespoons almond milk (or water) for blending

Optional toppings: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or berries

Direction

In a food processor, combine rinsed chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt.

Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.

If the mixture is too thick, slowly add almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, blending until desired consistency is reached.

Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more maple syrup or honey.

Transfer to a serving bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to enhance flavors.

Serve chilled with fresh fruit, pretzels, or as a spread on toast.
